Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of SmoothMotion.video, a free online tool for increasing the frame rate of videos using frame interpolation. The service is provided by the operator of SmoothMotion.video ("we", "us"). By uploading a video or otherwise using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
The service
SmoothMotion.video lets you upload a video and receive a version converted to 30, 60 or 120 FPS using motion-compensated interpolation. No account is required. A description of how the service works is available on our how it works page, and the way we handle your data is described in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
Your content
- You keep ownership. You retain all rights in the videos you upload and in the processed output. We claim no ownership of your content.
- You must have the right to use it. You confirm that you own the video or have all the permissions needed to upload it and have it processed, including from anyone who appears in it or owns rights in its audio or visuals.
- Limited permission to us. You give us a limited permission to store, copy and process your video solely to provide the service to you – to validate it, interpolate it, generate previews and let you download the result – and for no other purpose. This permission ends when your media is deleted.
Acceptable use
You must not use the service to upload, process or distribute content that:
- is illegal, or that you do not have the right to use;
- infringes anyone's copyright, trade marks, privacy or other rights;
- depicts the sexual abuse or exploitation of children, or is otherwise exploitative;
- is intended to harass, threaten, defame or harm others.
You also must not:
- attempt to access other users' jobs or media;
- interfere with, overload or disrupt the service, or attempt to bypass its limits;
- probe, scan or test the service for vulnerabilities without permission;
- use automated means to submit jobs at a volume that degrades the service for others.
We may refuse, cancel or delete any job, and restrict access to the service, where we reasonably believe these terms have been broken, and we may report illegal content to the appropriate authorities.
Limits
The service currently accepts MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, WebM and M4V files up to 500 MB, 5 minutes long and 1920×1080 resolution. Uploaded and processed media is deleted automatically 30 minutes after processing finishes (or 3 hours after upload if it cannot be processed in that time), and viewing or downloading does not extend this. It is your responsibility to download your result in time and to keep your own copies of your original files. Deleted media cannot be recovered.
We may change these limits, or introduce others, to keep the service running fairly.
Results and quality
Frame interpolation estimates new frames from existing ones. Results depend heavily on the source footage and may include visual artifacts such as warping or ghosting, particularly around fast motion, overlapping objects, scene cuts, repeating patterns and text overlays. Interpolation cannot add detail that is not present in the original. Processing can take longer than the duration of the video. We do not guarantee any particular result or processing time.
Availability
The service is provided free of charge, and we aim to keep it available, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, timely or error-free. We may suspend, change or discontinue all or part of the service at any time, for example for maintenance or if demand exceeds capacity. Jobs may be queued, delayed or fail.
No warranty
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement or that the output will meet your requirements.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, content, profits, revenue or business, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service. This includes the loss or deletion of uploaded or processed files. Because the service is provided free of charge, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the maximum extent the law allows.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The "updated" date on this page shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the service after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
